I have found the same thing this morning and the chick is just over a week old. Legs not splayed, but seems if it gets knocked and rolls over on it side, it can't get up. It is getting about, but legs aren't strong, I'm at a loss. :/
I don't have any coop mites, but my hens have mites which we are endeavouring to get on top of. But I have hunted my coop and especially the nesting boxes and never found any. Am I correct in thinking the hens mites and the coop mites are different, as are the feet mites?
I have to say, as tuff as I can be where erky things are involved, I wasn't looking forward to the 'dig'.
