I have used Modesto Organic for a while but I purchased this feed because my wife feels better about it..
I also give them Bob's organic steel cut oats (Costco for about $1/lb).
Kauai has known sitings and in 2012 they have captured two Mongoose.

I had the same experience. So I stopped giving them water in a bucket. All they have access to are water nipples. The hens produce an egg per day each so all is good.
Thanks to both of you.
Putting the other two hens in a same yard, both caged, brought out the other hen from hiding.
But.... I have to tell you that trying to catch a hen in yard full of weeds and junk is difficult. I got a cut on my thigh falling on some construction debris but did not...
I had the same problem with my RIR (aggressive birds). Although the RIR was not the alpha (with the food) she beat up on my newly added leghorn so much that I could see her skull because she had been pecked so much on the head.
I had to kill the RIR.
No more RIRs for me unless they are all...
I thought that I lost my hen to a hawk but then I saw her in my neighbor's back yard. Once I entered the yard she ran and hid in the thick of weeds.
I grabbed two other hens, put them in a cage and placed the cage in the neighbor's backyard hoping that she will come out of hiding. It's 6:46...
I had the same experience where the hens would seem to drink more water when I left out a bucket of water versus the nipples. Now, I don't put out a bucket of water. Their only choice is to get water from the nipples. All the hens are healthy and laying production is great.
I had a similar problem after two months of introducing new hens to my current group of hens. My Rhode Island was the most aggressive and I recall that she would pick on my Delaware (has a thing about white feathered hens) who is now dead.
Anyhow, two weeks of keeping my Leghorn isolated from...
From my post a while ago, one of my hens eat 6.667 labs of organic pellets/month. I free range them at least 8 full days out of the month, eating mostly grass and bugs. I feed them a handful of steel cut oats 8 time/month.
I feed my hens organic steel cut oats. They love the oats more so than worms from my compost bin or BOSS (black oil sunflower seeds) which they ignore.
So much interesting information regarding fodder, myth and truth.
In this post by UC Cooperative Extension, the author addresses the perceived of value hydroponically grown fodder. In summary, his research suggests that there is an actual decrease in nutritional value when sprouted and the...
