Hello everyone, I haven’t seen any new avian flu cases reported on the .gov site for a while, could this almost be the end of their lockdown?? I have been on here a little while now, I keep 6 beautiful hens and currently 16 ducks which we inherited with our last house move. That brings me to my...

Miniature Silver Appleyards looking for a good home - Hampshire UK

Hello everyone, I have a group of 11 miniature appleyards who are looking for a loving new home. They can go together or as a group of 5 and a group of 6. I have 4 drakes and 7 girls, 2 of the drakes and 3 of the girls are around 2 years old and the other 2 drakes and 4 girls were hatched last...

Movement and peeping stopped...5 hours now :(

Thank you 🙏 I have my fingers crossed but no movement form either, one pipped 48 hours ago and no progress and the other doesn’t even seem to have internally pipped, so strange as the temp and humidity seem fine but I know hatching is not an easy thing. We’re on day 28 tomorrow so I’m guessing...

Movement and peeping stopped...5 hours now :(

Thank you for your response 🙂 sadly the hatching chick did die, we can’t be sure if it was the bad egg or the fact it was trying to hatch on day 26. Upon investigation we found the yolk was still quite substantial so maybe it just came at the wrong time...we have our fingers crossed for the...

Movement and peeping stopped...5 hours now :(

Update - I have identified another egg has gone bad, it started to leak a tiny little pinky fluid so I’ve removed it and although very hard to see, I can tell the egg is bad. Could this have killed the hatching chick? Gasses etc, it did smell a little!

Movement and peeping stopped...5 hours now :(

Hello all, I was hoping that I could get some advice with hatching ducks? It’s day 26 and one of the smaller eggs externally pipped and the duckling started peeping and breaking through about 2pm. Lots of movement and noise for a couple of hours but now it’s been 5 hours since any movement and...

    Egg ‘caved in’ before hatching?

All ducklings are doing really well! Mummy miniature appleyard has 5 and Sylvia, my silver laced Wyandotte has just one beautiful duck baby! I have had to keep the the mums apart from each other as the chicken keeps attacking the duck mum but they are in one big enclosure with separate areas, I...

    Egg ‘caved in’ before hatching?

Our khakis and Aylesburys are very interested in the new arrivals! They’ve been swimming in their mummy ducks drinker already, just 2 inches deep and I’ve kept an eye on them just in case 😁

    Egg ‘caved in’ before hatching?

Wonderful! They all seem quite happy 😊 thank you for keeping an ehe on my post, I’m new to ducklings so any advice is most welcome! She has one egg intact, I think I’ll give it another day and then move them all to a more secure inclosure, we have cats and a pup so I’m mindful of their safely...

    Egg ‘caved in’ before hatching?

Also, anyone know if the colouring helps tell the sex? I was wondering if the yellow ones were female and the darker male maybe?? X

    Egg ‘caved in’ before hatching?

Hello everyone! So today these 5? (I think it’s 5) have arrived! Mummy duck made a hidden nest in some nettles, she is crafty! I have built a makeshift pen around to protect them and put a wooden shelter at one end in case they want it. My main question is, if I put a plate of chick crumb in...
