Movement and peeping stopped...5 hours now :(

Hello all, I was hoping that I could get some advice with hatching ducks? It’s day 26 and one of the smaller eggs externally pipped and the duckling started peeping and breaking through about 2pm. Lots of movement and noise for a couple of hours but now it’s been 5 hours since any movement and it’s very still with its beak sticking out if quite a good size hole...has it died??

Update - I have identified another egg has gone bad, it started to leak a tiny little pinky fluid so I’ve removed it and although very hard to see, I can tell the egg is bad. Could this have killed the hatching chick? Gasses etc, it did smell a little!

Is the original egg in question still alive? If the egg was rotten, it could have died from many different things. It's hard to say what the pink fluid was.
Thank you for your response 🙂 sadly the hatching chick did die, we can’t be sure if it was the bad egg or the fact it was trying to hatch on day 26. Upon investigation we found the yolk was still quite substantial so maybe it just came at the wrong time...we have our fingers crossed for the other two eggs 🤞🏼

Yeah, probably something wrong physically with the duckling. I'm sorry for your loss. Hopefully your other 2 make it! :fl

Thank you 🙏 I have my fingers crossed but no movement form either, one pipped 48 hours ago and no progress and the other doesn’t even seem to have internally pipped, so strange as the temp and humidity seem fine but I know hatching is not an easy thing. We’re on day 28 tomorrow so
I’m guessing if nothing starts tomorrow it will be a sad shame but it is what it is 🤞🏼

One has been externally pipped for 48 hours with no progress?
Did you calibrate your thermometer and salt test your hygrometer before setting the eggs to be sure the temp and humidity is accurate? Even half a degree off can make all the difference when incubating.
