The first day I brought them here they didn't lay anything but then 2 days in a row I got 5 eggs. Then 3 eggs for 2 or 3 days and now 4 seems to be the magic number.
I have heard so many stories about people doing different things but I am conflicted now about if I'm doing it all wrong.
I have one friend who washes and puts them in fridge immediately.
Another friend doesn't wash til she eats them and leaves them on counter til she eats them.

I'm trying to figure out who's laying which eggs and who's not producing. All 6 hens are young and still within production age but some aren't laying for some reason and I don't know why? I only had 1 hen left from last year's chicks as something killed all my other chickens and ducks. So I took...
I've heard several people talk about their hens making an odd noise just before laying an egg but I haven't heard this sound from my hens yet. What is the sound? Do they each make the sound just before they lay an egg?
I just bought 4 Guinea's from my local feedstore that were only a day old. I've never owned them before so I don't know anything about them.

I would have to say that the Barred Rock is about 4-6 weeks old and the Buff Orp looks to be about 2-4 weeks old. Thanks for the pictures! I have 8 Barred Rocks and the oldest is 3 weeks old and slightly smaller than your Barred Rock. I do not own any Buff Orp but have seen them in different...
I have two 1 week old Broiler chicks that are laying down, not eating, not drinking and they seem week and intoxicated. I bought them at a local feed store. We have 18 birds in all bought at different times and 4 breeds. The day we bought them we bought 7 Broilers. They are the only 2 that are...
