Sounds before laying eggs?

I've heard several people talk about their hens making an odd noise just before laying an egg but I haven't heard this sound from my hens yet. What is the sound? Do they each make the sound just before they lay an egg?

Mine will bawk after they lay an egg. Then sometimes the rooster will join her and tell the world she laid an eggs. I call it the egg song.
