I looked up Marek's symptoms but I don't think that is it. They aren't showing any other symptoms. No leisions or any of the other symptoms. I also don't notice any swelling in the chickens legs or feet. It just starts with limping that progressively gets worse and then they die...eating and...

What is worrying me the most is that they die and as soon as I lose one I notice another doing the same thing (with the exception of my grown hen hers is something entirely different but started out seemingly the same). It seems the less they use (like when I separate them) the worse it gets...

I have hatched Black copper marans and wheaton maran (2 different breeders) and both hatched a day or more after the light brown eggs...thought it was just me!! lol I have also noticed a much lower hatch rate compared to other eggs from same breeders. No idea!

It doesn't look like a prolapse...I don't think chicks can get that (as they are not laying eggs)...but I'm not 100% sure of that...and also the wound is more on the belly than the vent.

It seems to be doing really well with the other chicks and momma doesn't seem to be missing it...so my plan is to keep it with the other chicks.

I posted it on the hatched section. I inially thought the same thing but I don't see anything hanging or anything weird just a dried bloody area. And would the yolk absorb under the wing?

Instead of a designer dog...U could make a designer chick line!! White crested Red? Barred Red? Black copper silkie (top hat optional)?

If the silkie was the mom then the egg would have looked like a silkie egg. Maybe you will get lucky and ur mystery mutt will lay dark brown eggs.
