Welcome to the virtual Old Glory Chicken Farm!!
This site is under necessary construction. Please watch your step!
Well, my husband and I live in Montana. We have a wonderful home, 4 dogs, and have just recently added 3 chickens to our family! They are "brown" (although I'm learning brown can be...
UPDATE!! See below for new pics!
Come see the chickens!! We have started out with only 3 little chickies. The man from the hatchery said they were "brown frizzle bantams". Now, I don't know what "brown" means anymore...but here they are! More progressive pics to come!
All of these pics were...
"Old Glory" Herself!!
This page is dedicated to our own labor of love. I thought that coops really needed a name, much like a car I believe it may bring luck. The words "Old Glory" stuck in my head. While at a supply store, I walked by a clearance rack that had Americana decor. Being the...
well, all good ideas..thanks everyone! With the banty rooster that I just got rid of, he was a little gentleman until Maggie started laying eggs, then watch out!! Even for a banty he was shredding up my husbands work boots when he kicked....
As far as breeds go, this new one is a leghorn...what...
Okay...Here's the sitch...I FINALLY got rid of a banty rooster that I had (local vet took him for his flock of hens). YAY! But that left my little frizzle banty hen all alone, So I went and got more hens for her..........one started crowing last weekend SOOOOO I called the hatchery and told the...
well...i see everyones point....everyones opinions make sense, so i'm pretty much back at square one...
i can't just pick him up and love on him until he is calm...thats a suicide dive on my part...
secondly - thanks so much for the links, the websites are really great but they're more for...
awww Joliet is such a neat little place. Yeah..I guess I'll try a squirt gun ( or a big bucket) for a while...guess if he doesn't learn, he'll get put outside the coop...haven't done that yet because my neighbors have cats...but what else can I do? in about a month I'll be putting my new chicks...
I guess I just wasn't sure if he can be tamed....Really it's so silly right? he's half the size of a normal rooster...I made the mistake of running the first time he chased, so I know some of this is my fault..Squirt gun huh? I'm gonna have to try that....
well....I suppose it would be worth a try...only how on earth do you get close enough to him to get him by the feet? when I say mean I'm talking mean.... he actually gouged out a little shred of my husbands boots..and those are leather! so if he can do that to leather, what would he do to me...
Hi all... I know I'm going to get some responses about being an irresponsible chicken owner but I'm at my wits end and I just really really need some advice.
Last year I bought 3 (4 week old) chicks from a local hatchery. The guy at the hatchery didn't know if they were hens or roos. I ended...
Okay, so we thought my hen was just sitting on some eggs, and maybe that was why she wasn't leaving her house. Today we went into the coop to feed and water, and she wasn't sitting on anything! What could make a hen just stop laying and never leave her house? She isn't hurt, she let us pet her...
tuna thank you! I just love them so much!
boy I sure do love how self-righteous some chicken owners can be
and for the rest of the people who felt it necessary to make really really really stupid comments.....you were new once too it's okay..some people just weren't raised right...
Not sure if this is the right thread or not..but here goes...
So, I have three 8 week old frizzle bantams. I'm 99% sure one is a roo, the other 2 are most likely hens. Here's my question...when they start laying eggs, and there is a roo present. How do I know if I can eat the eggs or not? I...
