Mama and her new chicks...ADVICE PLEASE.

She was probably not abandoning the chick, but probably wondering why it wasn't following her? I don't know how she was acting. If it were me, I would pen them together still, I did for a while with my mama and her chicks and she is the best mother to them! Even though they are bigger they still...

Mama and her new chicks...ADVICE PLEASE.

I just recently had one of my ladies hatch two chicks....they are now a little older and about teenager age, but this site and other ladies helped me a lot! Mama and baby need to be kept apart and have their own area for as long as you can, till the chick can run or defend itself. A little bit...

Mama and her new chicks...ADVICE PLEASE.

Thank you both for your advice! I will leave the other egg for a few more days, and see what happens. The weak chick is doing well and perking up but I can tell still lacks so much energy. But it's starting to peck and mess with the food, and I give it save-a-chick water from tractor supply with...

So we have a mama who went broody and I couldn't get her to quit laying on the un-fertilized eggs. Got some fertilized ones from a friend, and three days ago they hatched, had a weak one but after some tender love and care it's perking up and on its way back to being where it's sibling chick is...

TWO DAY OLD CHICK...DOSENT LOOK GOOD. please help.

Thank you for your tips! I did go out there with a ml dropper and see if maybe it just needed some water....it "guzzled" that tiny bit of water like you wouldn't believe. So maybe it just needed the extra bit of attention. The mama is doing a great job from what I can tell. And I did go snag...

TWO DAY OLD CHICK...DOSENT LOOK GOOD. please help.

I had a hen that went broody, my friend gave me fertilized eggs, two hatched and two have not. Out of the two that have hatched, one is doing very well, walks around, pecks at mama and generally seems healthy. It's sibling, though just lays there, eyes closed, and dosent seem to be doing well...
