Thank you Ron! It's good to see you still here. I think you're the only familiar "face" that is still active from the time we built out first coop and had our first flock, which must have been around ten years ago.
Its so good to have chickens again!
Hello all you crazy cluckers, it's been a few years at least since I've been skulking around these parts!
We lost our original flock to a neighbor's dog that got loose and are no longer in that neighborhood.
Built a new coop last year and have a new small flock. However, I really miss some...
Yikes. Guess I'll keep working with the dog to run them off. Their coop area is solid, but of course they are vulnerable when they are free ranging. :/
Lost a chicken. I think it was a coyote or fox. Wasn't the dog in the image (although sometimes she will chase them but not bite, working on that) as she was with us when it happened. Broad day, only 5-10 minutes where we weren't outside. Came out to feather piñata scenes. No bird in sight...
We had a monster Orp Roo as well as a Light Brahma. They both survived the heat just fine. We had a mister on a timer for the coop run that the whole flock appreciated.
Edit to add: We are about an hour's NE of Sac in the same heat.
Hello Everyone!
Wow it's been ages. Like.... 2 years? :O Shame on me.
Long story short:
We never completed our coop mansion, although it just needs a roof, siding and run. The location of the Bed & Breakfast coop we built originally will once again be our home as we're moving back to take...
Checking in to say "Hello"! The new coop still isn't completed and while we plan to work on it more it's going to be awhile as Mr. Nikon goes in for surgery on a partial tendon tear in a couple of weeks. Definitely miss my cluck-clucks. They aren't laying right now as Mr Nikon's grandma...
LOL WET chickens! Are you in college now? I know what you mean about teaching "art" it's all subjective. You'd probably really like a portrait studio lighting class. That's more craft that and knowledge that would help in almost any situation rather than a subjective type of class. I'd say...
Yay a Nikon aftermy own heart. LOL! The D600 is a great body! Gotta love that full frame sensor! I'm misty self taught as well. I eat books for fun if they interest me. My uncle taught me a lot as a tween and I've have a few lighting college class's but that's it.
Great self portrait! Yup! Super versatile it's all about exposure and lighting. If you really wanna play around add a background spot light. (that will give you a white dog and a white background, very nice high-key image) :) Are you self taught or taking classes in photography?
