    I fed layer food from 16 weeks onward with no problems. It should be fine.

    Today I did chicken chores and let my girls explore a bit. We have had a hawk in the area lately and I’m paranoid it will decide my chickens look like a snack. They were happy to be out even if it did get cut short by Mr. Hawk.

    If there is anyway to modify the coop to raise the roost it may be your best bet. Sleeping on the roost is much cleaner for the chickens since they poop all night.     Thank you we hope Cloud turns out to be a hen too but if not we have a rooster plan that doesn’t end in a dinner table. Cloud is far to sweet tempered to go to the dinner pot.

    How many animals do you have!

    Our family has... 17 chickens all with names Luna the shelter kitten 4 chihuahuas 1 Sparrow named Icarus (rehabilitated but can’t return to the wild) Many fish and one pond frog that decided to join them in wintering over in the basement. We call him Kermit.
