Coop is 4"x 8' and 11 of those chickens are leaving in the next month or so. I only want 8, but to get them had to order 15 and then well chicken math prevailed sigh.... They have plenty of room and some of them have even been flying up to the roosts, which is so cool to see.

I am so puzzled right now, First some background, I have 19, 6 week old chicks. They were in a brooder for 2 weeks then moved out to the coop for the next 3 weeks with the door to the run closed the whole time. This past week I opened the door to the run and have started to get them used to...
I certainly hope so as I moved my two week old chicks to their coop yesterday, the brooder was 4' x 3' and I felt they were getting bored, they had started to do a weird flying jumping thing and I was concerned they would start picking on each other, the Coop is 4" x 8" so now they have lots of...
Thanks guys, I am not sure what happened. My poor son is the one who found it this morning and called me at work. Chicken Math went to work when I told my husband. I had gone to the local Co-op to get the Chick Grit i needed and told him that they had some Chicks. He sent me back to buy four...
You are so welcome, they are so fun to watch, we unfortunately lost one this morning, from what I have read that is not unusual. Just a bummer. :( Keeping my fingers crossed that the rest are happy and healthy for a very long time.

Hi all, the first time we had chickens we bought older chickens so we did not have to worry about raising babies. Well I quickly realized the benefits of knowing your chickens from the time they hatched and raising them yourself. So after convincing my husband we sold our older chickens and we...
HAPPY ENDING!! My neighbor just called and she apparently went visiting and decided she needed to see into their garage. I think it started to thunder and rain and she ran to the nearest shelter. Well they ran out and shut their garage door to the rain and there she stayed all night long...
Yep my youngest cried himself to sleep and I feel terrible about that too. I am grateful that they thought about keeping them safe I just cannot figure out why they didn't call me to verify that this was what they should do. Guess we all get to learn this lesson the tough way.
UGH, I went out on a date with DH tonight and when I got home found out that my boys (15 and 12) had done me a favor. Apparently they heard thunder and got worried about our free ranging chickens. So they ran outside rounded up 7 of the 8 and shut their pen door so they were safe. They then...
Well she is outside running around again like normal. I am starting to think that she is just really smart for a chicken and was having nothing to do with the frost and cold that was outside her coop this morning. I have seen her grab a piece of meat that was part of a treat and run with it...
I think I am in need of some advice, We have 8 chickens no roosters, I have a Brown leghorn (doesn’t like people has always wanted to be left alone) She is about 9 months old. When we first got her in August she laid 6 eggs a week. About 2 months ago now she dropped down to 1 maybe 2 a week...
I honestly have no idea. My DH is the computer whiz in the family. I know we bought a Zomodo Wireless IP cam. I will have him write up a how to on our profile page here soon.
It is fun to watch them and the cool thing about this cam is that we can move it remotely. So if you are watching...
We got our Cam up and out to the internet. If anybody is interested in watching someone else's Chickens be goof balls come on over and check us out. LOL
