I moved my (now 13 weeks old) chicks into the main coop with my lone survivor hen a few weeks ago. They now all get along fine, but no matter what I do, the chicks will NOT follow the older hen up into the coop at night.. I cant keep going outside every night to manually pick each of them...

I got 5 chicks almost 2 weeks ago, and all of them but one has lots of wing and tail feathers coming in. I have a light brahma and a buff Brahma, and when you compare the feathering it’s pretty noticeable. Possibly a roo?

This has been a terrible week due to a coyote(s) killing all but one of my ladies. She’s obviously freaked out, and is constantly running around calling for her friends.
I ordered more chicks and they will ship Monday.

Today I went to feed and water the ladies like I do every day, and when I went to get the eggs out of the nest box I found my white EE who passed away while sleeping (or thats what it looks like she was doing..) :confused:. There werent any injuries, blood, missing feathers, etc...
I live in northern Illinois. No, the "second" run is not enclosed on top, since it is literally huge. (125' perimeter, 5' high to be exact). The actual coop and run are fully enclosed in hardware cloth. I usually open the door to the run attached to the actual coop everyday and let the girls...
Thank you :( this is the 4th one I've lost in the past year. I love these ladies so much. Breaks my heart to know they had to die so awfully (the other ones were taken by some sort of animal over the summer)
