Hi everyone,
I have 1 Buff Brahma roo, 8 Barred Rock hens, 1 Barred Rock roo and 1 buff orpington roo. I need to finish filling the freezer with the rest of my roos (except the barred rock, he's a keeper). However, the buff orpington seems to be sick or hating the cold weather we've been...
Thanks for your help everyone.
I did pick up some sodium sulphamethazine, but I haven't administered anything yet. I haven't seen a bloody poo since and I've been watching the chicks closely. They all seem to be acting normal, everyone is eating, etc.
Perhaps it was a touch dehydrated or...
Thanks for your help. I believe it must be sulphamethazine (Sulmet) that they have at the feed store. I'll pick some up and have a go at it tonight.
Thanks again.
I called the local feed store. They only have Sodium sulphamethazene. I hear it is rough on the intestines, should I give it to the whole flock? There's one or two that I'm suspecting that have it (a bit slower growing and are a little less active than the rest). All of the sites everyone gave...
I would probably say that it look like the 'watery' dropping, but it had blood in it, like the coccidiosis dropping (not the normal, intestinal ones) but no where near as dark red or 'thick'.
They all seem to be feeding and none of them are shying away from the heat lamps, but I will keep a...
Hi all,
I do have photo, but I can't post photos yet. I have 20 barred rocks, 3 orpingtons and 1 buff brahma. They are all between 11 and 18 days old. I did lose one chick soon after I got it from the supplier, but the rest have appeared healthy. However, this morning I came across a watery...
How old are your chicks?
I'm still debating when to put mine out there with a heat lamp. They are roughly 1 or 2 weeks old (I couldn't get enough chicks of the same age). They are starting to get a bit big for their indoor brooder and my wife is getting a little irritated by the smell
I live up in northern Canada. Although we can still be prone to frosts until early June, the night-time termpatures are hovering around 3-5 degrees Celsius, or 38 to 42 degrees Farenheit. So, I'm wondering if it is okay to move chicks to an area brooder within our outdoor coop (I obviously would...
Thanks for the advice.
I have separated the chick from the rest of the flock. I'm feeding it water with some sugar in it. It seems to help, but the little one still doesn't really open its' eyes and isn't moving around like the others. None of the stores are open today, so I can't get any...
Hi everyone,
I'm brand spanking new to this chicken-rearing thing. My wife and I picked up a batch of new (1-day old) chicks 3 days ago. They all look good, except one droopy looking one. It's head is usually droopy, it seems to fall asleep on his feet a lot, rarely opens its eyes, typically is...
