Hello,
The blood issue seemed to have resolved, however, there is now a yellow discharge from her mouth, when her abdomen is massaged. And now her comb is flopping over.
Yellow sounds like infection, no?
Let me know if you'd like to see a photo of her flopped over comb.
Thx.
Thank you for the links. Im not sure where to find the poop chart in the first link.
She's still hanging in there. I dont see her eating much, yet she still has her weight.
How do you know if it is worms vs mites?
Is there a natural way to treat?
Thank you!
Thank you for the replies.
There has been some improvement. The legs are not bluish any more, and the comb has improved dramatically. Just the edge looks 'off.'
She has diarrhea. It is whitish in colour and is sticking to her bum feathers (that's my medical term .
I've given her keffir, which...
There has been a sudden change in this 3 year old hen. Her comb, wattles, beak and feet have purply black discoloration. Has anyone seen this before?
She may have also lost feathers, as the colour is much lighter now.
Thank you!
As of 3 days ago, this hen is not thriving:
Mostly just stands in one place.
2 days in a row, when picked up and massaged crop area, she threw up. First time food, 2nd time mostly water.
It feels like there is a huge fluid build-up in her chest area. Not hard at all.
Her neck is held in a more...
The chicks were not vaccinated.
It looks like it might be marek's. I read some threads here, and it seems to effect older birds, not 3 weeks old.
Does anyone have experience at this age?
Her head is very shakey and she's tending to fly from point to point because she can't walk well.
Thanks!
One of my 2 baby chicks appears to be sick. She's collapsing a lot onto her knees and walking like she's drunk. Stepping on her own feet. Also shaking. She closes her eyes a lot. When she poops, she almost collapses and has to use her wings for balance. Any idea what might be going on?
Thanks!
It appears that my hens' chests are somewhat distended. They are behaving normally and laying well, but it appears that their shape has changed. Have you ever noticed this with your flock?

Perhaps my young Orpington has just began to lay and this is her first one. If so, that is very exciting as I didn't think she would start until some time in November.
I think this came from a 2 year-old hen. The problem is, I didn't notice it until all 4 eggs were cracked into the bowl. Anyway, my waffles turned out terrible. I ran out of all-purpose flour and used bread flour. The waffles may be going back to the girls.
Today, when I cracked some eggs, I noticed a small white fluid filled sack in the bowl. I've never seen anything like this. I am uploading a picture, but my Internet is slow today. In the meantime, I'm wondering if it is ok to proceed with my waffles.
Has anyone else seen anything like this...
