    8 week old silkie sexing

Thank you! I can't have any roosters, so I might pass on these little guys. Only get sexed silkies if I come across any. Thanks again

Also, any guess on the frizzle? I know they're difficult too.

I know silkies are hard. Any guesses though? I'm not even sure if they're full blooded silkies.

10 Yr Hiatus- Questions About New Flock

Got it. It did appear as though the previous owner went WAY overboard with the DE when he had them. The 1st time I cleaned out the coop, the whole floor was white powder under the old shavings. One of the lorps had a sneeze, but it's since gone away. Maybe this particular EE that is still...

10 Yr Hiatus- Questions About New Flock

Thanks for the reply! I'll try to wrangle one and give it an inspection. The coop so far is a decent size for the birds. They all fit in one nest box and tend to pile in there each evening. *eyeroll* They've yet to discover the roost bar that goes all the way across the top. I'm in southeast...

10 Yr Hiatus- Questions About New Flock

I haven't had chickens since 2015. I remember a lot of the basics and sure missed having birds, but find myself questioning things this time around. Someone please help!

Cute guy! I wonder if thats why they cast him to the side and didn't care that he was sick- they knew he was a roo and didn't care if he made it. He's very lucky to have you!

    Hen or roo?

    I 2nd that- pullet.
  10. OneLostHen

Hmmm? Male or female? About 4 mo old. I don’t know the breed. Silkie or Cochin or polish mix?

I say roo by the coloring. Definitely a tricky little cutie!!

Crowing chicken but no saddle feathers?

Id definitely say he's a roo. Hens generally have a more uniform pattern than this one has. And the saddle feathers look like that of a rooster.

    Muddy Run

Cover it or dig some drainage. Or put bedding down like sand, shavings or straw.
