    Production Reds

I have 4 (2 roos and 2 hens). They are pretty friendly and laid back. My 3 yr old son has no trouble handling them. The hens have been laying for the last 2 weeks (they are just now 5 months old). Mine are laying a nice egg 2 days on one day off. The roos are very pretty. We have ours up for...

Quote: we could if we had an incubator. the brahma eggs would be crossed with prod red. I doubt the jap egg is fertile from what I've read. I'm sure when caitlin gets her sq japs and rir we will get an incubator and get busy.

Quote: thanks jen! I did not know the japanese national will be in shawnee this year! Sooo exciting. I would like to get at least a pair for caitlin to show now until then. We met a guy at our county spring livestock show a few weeks back who said he might be able to help us, but haven't...

My daughter loves the japanese breed. She has some btw from a hatchery so they are too long legged for show but good color on her roo. I'm looking to get her a good sq trio, but that might be nearly impossible in OK without shipping from somewhere else. oh well, she really loves them and...

Quote: I think a poultry club is needed here. I've thought about trying to start or revive one, maybe combine it with rabbits. Don't really know, but I do know I'd need someone more knowledgeable in poultry than me to work with. I know right now caitlin is exhausted and still ecstatic! Tanya

we washed a couple of chickens today for the first time. Not too hard to do. I was really worried about doing it. For those of you that are really good at it, is there a way to dry the chicken without feeling like your ruining the feathers? We patted and stroked with a towel in the direction...
