Just wanted to share a few pics with everyone
This is my BLRW baby
And a few of the new coop. Im not finished yet, still have to put welded wire mesh on top of poultry wire, construct a chicken door, put the roofing on, and a few more little things.
Thanks for that info. We live more in the country, and so far our biggest enemies seem to be hawks, coyotes, and snakes. And yes, the wire I will be using will be 14g welded wire. Hopefully I will be through with the coop today, and can begin on the 20x50 run tomorrow or the next day
Wow!! Thank all of you for the suggestions for both the coop and also for keeping the birds cool during the hot weather.
Tomorrow I will post some pics of the coop in progress, and also of our BLRW chick.
What if I first lay down poultry mesh, then place a layer of 2x4" fencing material...
I have a question. I am currently in the process of building my coop. 8ft x 3 1/2ft x 4ft high. The roof is covered and currently the back and two side are completly enclosed. i was going to do the front in poultry wire, so the air could circulate in there. Like i said before, i am COMPLETELY...
Chicks are here finally!!!
This is a mixture of SLW, GLW, BA, SS, and production red, along with 3 mystery chicks sent as extras from Privett, that is who the local TSC uses. All survived transit.
and my BLRW cockerel from Meyer
What kind of dogs do you have? We currently have two 3 month old mixed puppies. 1/2 Border Collie 1/4 Lab 1/4 Bull Mastiff. The girl has been showing herding instinct since she was 8 weeks old, which I kinda see possibly being a problem. As soon as we can, we plan on introducing them and the...
thank you. we just got outside and checked the brooder... had to remove the draft guard as it was 102 in there . now its a comfy 94 under the lamp all that's missing are the chicks. and puppy training shall begin tomorrow as well
Thanks for the warm welcome. I can't wait for the chicks to arrive... should be here any day now. Along with my chicks, my grandfather will be getting 6 SLW, 3 BO, 3 Speckled Sussex, 5 Black Australorp, 5 Golden Buff, and 2 Roos; a Barred Rock and a New Hampshire Red.
Like i said, I am new...
Hello LA!! lol I'm pretty new on here, new to chickens as well. From the huge city of Vinton. Just waiting on my new chicks to get here. 4 SLW, 2 Speckled Sussex, 2 BO, and a BLRW roo. Cant wait
Well it is now official, the chicks are ordered and will be arriving in the next two weeks. Two Silver Laced Wyandottes, two Black Australorps, four Speckled Sussex, and one Speckled Sussex Roo. The coop is built, but the run is not. i am very limited on supplies, and i'm hoping what i have will...
Thank you very much for the advice. I have had a change in my thinking over the last day or so, so I believe I have changed the plans up lol. Instead of the ten chicken tractor, I am gonna go for two smaller tractors. easier to move, plus I am able to separate my egg layers (Golden Buff or Black...
I have a few questions about a chicken tractor in my head, probably answered elsewhere, but cant seem to find.
We will soon be acquiring 8 Black Copper Marans, and have been doing much research lately on tractors. It is my understanding, that in a run, each chicken requires approximately 10...
