"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Chicks are here finally!!!

This is a mixture of SLW, GLW, BA, SS, and production red, along with 3 mystery chicks sent as extras from Privett, that is who the local TSC uses. All survived transit.

and my BLRW cockerel from Meyer

My turkeys and Rhode Island Reds came in today! I couldn't be more pleased. I helped the turkeys eat and drink, and the chicks took it from there.

A little thought from me today.........

When it comes for searching for techniques and advise for caring for you chickens. Do not put all your stock in peoples internet poultry advice, when to those people their chickens are their source of $$$income via social media fan base and a multitude of sponsors. Their job is for you to believe their pitch and buy.

I always have believed that for a majority of people in this day that $$ taints things. I may be a bit on the pessimistic side. But this has rang so very true over the last few years as I have read threads here on byc and watched the open sharing of personal practice and experience. Experiences that people ACTUALLY have vs the "recommended" (which while often may be true, its more of a sales pitch to benefit their sponsors and therefore their pocketbook). When compared to social media pages or websites where the individual is giving the advise and making money off of their "expertise" and they have lots of sponsors.........its beginning to smack of used car salesmen out there.

Sometimes you just want to talk to a REAL chicken farmer. Not someone who has spit shined their cutesy edited photos and have lots of "trendy tips" about how to raise chickens. I love hearing the different ways that people take care of their flock in real time. Hearing those experiences are invaluable.

This point has been driven home even more securely for me in the past months^^^^^^^

Basically......eyes wide open. That's all
