    A question regarding feed...

Hi all! I have a batch of 25-or-so RIR/Rock/Sussex/Orp chicks that are about 2 months old now, and I'm wondering if there is anything I can feed them in addition to their usual feed that will make them even tastier than they already will be? They're currently getting Flock Raiser, plants from...

    Making fertile Eggs non-viable

Wow, that food bank stalker dude sounds like a piece of work. Do you have space in your fridge to store the eggs for a week-ish prior to donating them? Or is it possible to contact the food banks and ask them if they can help? They probably don't turn most people away, but if they heard your...

Need some help ID'ing my new bitties

I'll see what I can do about pictures in several weeks. :) I'm mostly interested in the identity of the 'Phoenix' looking chick, if he is a Phoenix, I'm definitely keeping him, since I think those long tails on the roosters are stunning.

Started to open a seemingly 'dead' egg to see what happened, chick seems to still be alive!

The little buddy didn't make it. I checked on it this morning and there was no movement when I poked it. I gently removed it from the egg, and it was fully formed and beautiful, just hadn't absorbed the yolk all the way. It didn't seem positioned right for hatching yet, either. The part that...

Started to open a seemingly 'dead' egg to see what happened, chick seems to still be alive!

Thank you all for the replies! I feel more at ease. When I opened the egg, I made sure not to get too close to the membrane, though when I poked the chick, it did break through a tiny bit near the edge. There was a very small amount of blood when it did. Right now the egg is at high humidity...

Started to open a seemingly 'dead' egg to see what happened, chick seems to still be alive!

A panicked hello from Idaho. It is day 23 on my bantam eggs, and, out of five, a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte has already hatched, and the little sweetie is running around the brooder acting like a chick. The other three eggs were early quitters, and didn't make it past lockdown. I figured this...
