    Last chance

I have 5 chickens, 2 Americuanas, 3 RR, The are pecking each others rear ends to the point that there are no feathers left. I have tried everything that has been mentioned on this board, more protein, free ranging, pine tar, blue kote etc. My last effort will be to isolate them one at a time...

    Terrible Pecking

Have a quick question regarding a pecking problem. Someone at a local feed store reccomended debeaking to prevent pecking, but after what I have read here I can't imagine doing that. So my question is do they make saddles to protect the damaged area which is their rear ends. Five of the six have...

    chicken screaming

Hello; I am not sure what it is but a couple of my RR's HENS make loud yelping sounds around 6am everymoring. Usually when I walk out there they stop. I think it is starting to bother the neighbors. Any thoughts as to what may be causing this?

Thank you for the replies. I think I have plenty of space with a run which is 6 feet high ten feet long and about five feet wide. The coup is 4 X 6. They love to be out ranging but I can only let them out when I am around since they love to go in my neighbors yard and that is a problem. I have...

I have six birds, two Americuana's and four RR's. Everything was going well until about a month ago when all but one of the Americuan's started losing feathers on their rears, I suspected pecking so I put pine tar and blue Kote. Doesn't seem to help. Now it is really bad. They all seem to be...

How long to wait to uncover nest boxes

Hello, I have six birds, four RR and two Ameriquanas, The are all four months old. I was advised to cover up their access to their two nest boxes until they are ready to lay. Does anyone know when I should take the covers off so they can go into the nestboxes? Thanks

Used 1 inch...

    weird chick

I have 6 chicks four RR and 2 Ameriquanas(two weeks old), 5 doing well, one of the RR continues to burrow under the pine shavings and roll around, the others then peck its feet. Other than that it eats and drinks well and seems ok, Is this behavior normal?

    Leaving new chicks alone

We've had the new chicks for almost a week now and they are doing great. Question? Would it be ok to leave them alone in brooder for a day or two if supplied with enough food and water. Don't really want to do it but may have no choice. Thanks
