I have 8 chicks that are about 4-5 weeks old and they're getting way too big and too restless to be in their brooding pen much longer. I live in MO, and the weather here has been crazy fluctuations nights as low as 30s, days as high as 70s. Here's a link to our 7 day forecast...
I have a 3 year old production red hen who is standing upright, and it seems as though her belly is swollen -though that could just be because of the way she is standing. I have had eggbound hens before and this does not seem to be the case. She appears otherwise in good health, good comb and...
Hi, I haven't been on here in a while(had internet cut out of the budget) anyhow, I am completely stumped as to why my 9 hens give me one egg a day-on a good day. I've been down the list of things that halt laying, and the best conclusion I can draw is that they are molting, they've been losing...
I don't measure mine but I've collected some bigguns' from my leghorn and my PRs, my girls are just over one year and I'm noticing that their eggs are becoming much more consistent in size and are much larger than any I got last year. so it's hard to say until they get in their "groove"
I'm sooo jealous yep that building screams CHICKENS!(maybe even a duck or two)
as far as the lino, we put some in our coop which has a wood floor, I thought I would see a big benefit and I haven't. If my floor were cement I personally wouldn't bother with lino(unless maybe you found it free...
right after I posted that, the dad flew back to the nest with a groundhog and the momma got up and fed the babies, soooo cute! And the third egg is still there, I couldn't tell because it's windy, but it looked like the egg was moving, maybe we'll get to see a 3rd baby today!
thats it, i'm...

I'm probably not the first to post about this site, but I just can't stop watching it!
These eagles are in Decorah, IA. It's a momma, daddy, two babies and one egg awaiting hatch. Their nest is 80 ft up and weighs around 1.5 tons...

yep, sure did. I wear sweatshirts a lot and so normally when I go check for eggs, I usually get anywhere from 1 to 4 at a time, and usually I remember to put them away as soon as I get back inside, but this stinkin waterer had me all wound up...and apparently I wasn't in multi-task mode...
just wanted to let ya know you're NOT alone!
so I have been on top of things all day. They're calling for 6-8 in. of snow today, so this morning I did a few things to get ready for it, got the kids home early, put the windshield wipers up, etc., and then I got the bright idea to go tend to...
the kids are fine. we have 3 detectors that never went off(I tested them and yes they work), and the hvac guy tested as well.
the only time any gas was allowed to leak was literally seconds before it ignited.
the sickness was stomach flu. it's been so rampid here we've had several schools shut...
So, moral of the story,
Landlord's a cheapskate for trying to overstepping his know-how to save a buck, a jerk for trying to put the blame on me, and as long as I'm living here, if he so much as touches the heater again, I'll be in a hotel until he can arrange for a certified hvac technician to...

I'm saying the filter is not the problem in this case, if the fire was caused by a faulty valve or wireing. Yes a dirty filter can cause a unit to over heat, but there are also safe guards (fuses, breakers, auto shut off sensors) that are generally in place to prevent damage to the...
