    There are no vets in Connecticut, or at least my area that will deal with chickens. I have been giving her oyster shells. I will try the tums. Like I said shes eating and drinking...just not walking right at all.

    Finally let the girls out.

    Only three hens are older. I also have seen a slow down in laying lately but think there should be at least one or two eggs more a day in the boxes. I will have to poke around the yard and keep an eye on them this weekend.

    I agree with Akane. Last winter was very very cold here and the girls were fine in the coop at night. They perch and reffle up the feathers. Think back to colonial days, they had chickens but no electricity.

    Wire dog crates for chickens

    Ive have an injured chicken rehabing in one of these crates for the past several months. I havent had a problem...yet. I would zip tie or hog ring tie some hardware cloth around it though to be on the safe side.

    Very nice. I planned on doing the same thing for my coop until I found someone giving away a huge dog house. I still have the two kitchen cabinets down in the basement.
