I have 6 bobwhite quail that I've been raising since 2 day old eggs that are 5 weeks old right now; they are still in a brooder until the coop gets built and they all seem very sweet to each other (nesting, cuddling, eating, drinking & living with each other in harmony)
I'm nervous that 3 or...
That's just great!!!
This kinda tags along to the subject, but here's a question:
I have 6 bobwhite quail that I've been raising since 2 day old eggs that are 5 weeks old right now; they are still in a brooder until the coop gets built and they all seem very sweet to each other (nesting...
ADORABLE!! I LOVE IT!
P.S.---> These little Chicklets LOVE wax worms They can be quite expensive (Petsmart: $5-6 a small container... Amazon: $16-34) But Since my chicks love them so much, I found this site on how to breed them to save money! Its very time consuming ( around 8 weeks) but I...
Don't worry! My temp sometimes (rarely) got up to 106 for a little bit when I got settled down and before I knew it, you just do everything you can to fix it.
So I have 6 one month old bobwhite chicks, and I have noticed that only 1 has gotten very bright white feathers on and underneath it's wings that are quite long. Is this an indication of gender? Thanks so much!
(Bad picture, doesn't really show how much white there really is...)
I don't have chickens, But my quail are named:
-Quatro (He was egg #4 and hatched first)
-Daisy (Just a cute name)
-Texas Ranger (from Talladega Nights)
-DIDLS (pronounced diddles-he couldn't stand when he was born so he would "diddle around")
-PJ (stands for Peanutbutter & Jelly)
-Pikku (means...
How old are they? When my quail were 1st born, it took one of them over a week to get his balance and actually stand up on his feet and not squat, Now he's one of the strongest. I'm not any scientist or bird doctor but If the chicks are over 1 month old or around that age then I would say they...
Hi Guys! Before I start with the question part here is some basic knowledge:
6 Georgia Giant chicks hatched from my incubator on Sep. 3-8 and now they are 1 month old today. I am a newbie at hatching and raising quail (or birds in general) So, here you go:
Question #1--> I have 1 chick...
Okay. I have also heard that temperature determines sex? I've heard that a couple times about eggs, but mostly with dogs/cats. Like, if you increase the temp. you will end up with most girls? My friend put a heating pad under her pregnant dog and she had 90% girls. Just a hypothesis though...
Ditto. Keep those babies separated from that hen! I'm not any type of expert at this, but if the black hen doesn't really nurture their chick anymore, than it sounds like shes not a very good mother, and also very territorial and won't share. I would also recommend either finding a new home for...
Same here. I had some georgia giant babies hatch in early September (via incubator) and there was one egg I received that was almost a perfect circle, but it was very small! I had to help the chick out of the shell because he had been fighting for 2 1/2 days trying to push out with only 1/2 a...
