My incredibly tame coturnix quail enjoying a massage 😍

What lovely quail! I’m hoping to get some quail chicks this year and really want them as tame as possible. Hopefully with enough love and attention I’ll get one or two cuddly ones!

    The She-rooster

A lovely story. It's always bitter-sweet after a pet chicken moves on.

    Rhode Island Red Thread!

It's weird - they're supposed to be really calm and the 'top dogs' of the flock, but mine was incredibly flighty and always thinking the sky was falling in. Yeah, they do get pretty messy when they get wet!

Thank you! This pic was taken a few months ago, and her feathering has darkened even more now that she's matured! So I think yours will get some more red coming through. Apparently it seems to differ with every hen, which I find really unique and lovely. Hope I can get some more Ambers!

    *Buff Orpington Thread!*

Hi! Thanks for the reply - that clears it up. I had no idea there were two separate varieties of BO's! It makes sense now - the good reviews I normally read of BO's usually come from US sites, English sites normally talk of the Buff Orp as a good-tempered, albeit poor-laying chicken. Oh, and...

    Amber link

I don't have an ISA Brown, so not sure at all; but I got her as a pullet so more difficult to tame than if you got them as day-old, I guess. Regarding the love, she tamed in a relatively short time and seems to have an intelligently (that's seriously the only way to describe it), loving...

    *Buff Orpington Thread!*

Beautiful pictures! I'm actually feeling really jealous at the moment, since Buff Orps seem to be so hard to source here and I really want some. : ( However, I'm finding something puzzling; here on BYC and a lot of other blogs etc they are reputed to be 'good layers', which contradicts what a...

Great review, my maran was kind of flighty.

Hi, I wouldn't worry at all if I were you. My amber-link is a perfect sweetie, not flighty at all. The best thing is that she's pretty heavy, not very inclined to jump or fly (we have a REALLY low fence! And a very small garden!) I would recommend this breed to you. She is an absolutely...

    Cuckoo marans

Hello, there! I'm not sure what breed mix that is, but I'd say he was a cockerel - and he's very sweet-looking.

    Cuckoo marans

Oh my goodness, that is one seriously gorgeous Cuckoo Maran! At what age did the comb become so big? Mine's was really small even after 20 wks plus

    Cuckoo marans

You're right about the cuteness part, my Maran resembled a bit of a long-legged hawk. Also, her comb was really small even after 20 wks. Is this normal?

I hear that Amber feathers are usually very soft, however Phoebe's feathers are very rough compared to the other hens. Is this common?
