Pleaae help with splinting a ducklings foot.

Hi,this little duckling took ages to hatch and has come out with one foot pointed at the wrong angle. He's a day old so I want to correct this while he's still got young bones. I'm not sure how to go about moving his ankle to the right position? I've made shoes for a grown duck before but not...

29th day Incubation (Pekin), internal pip but no sign of external. Please help.

Hi all, I put 5 eggs in my incubator on the 13th of March at about 1pm. It is now day 29, and all the eggs were fertile and after candling look like they have internally pipped. The temperature is set at 37.2, the humidity is 80%. When I tapped the air sack, 3 of them sounded like they were...

Question about white liquid when laying.

Hi. So I just went to collect my ducks egg and it was covered and surrounded in white milky liquid. There was quite a lot of it and i've never seen it before. It looks like the same stuff that comes out before she mates but there is loads. Does anyone know what this is? Thanks.

probably been asked before but a question about introducing duckling to adult duck.

Hi! So recently my drake was killed, its getting to the stage where my lady duck can be let outside again and we have some ducklings ready to hatch on the tenth of April. Obviously they won't be outside for a while, but when they get to the age when they can be outside how will my lady pekin...

    Ducks attacked by dog

Thought I'd give an update. She's doing really well. On two types of antibiotics, she's now eating and had stopped heavy breathing so she must have had an infection. Glad I noticed as ducks tend to hide illness. Her feathers are growing back and she's being really naughty again (walking in her...

    Ducks attacked by dog

Eggs went in to the incubator on Thursday the 13th (when the accident happened) so I'm guessing around the 10th April if I've counted right? Luckily I've been through the whole looking after ducklings before so that will be less scary. They are fertilised by the drake that died so if they do...

    Ducks attacked by dog

Update (again): We took Mrs duck to the vet yesterday evening for a checkup. The vet is very pleased with her wounds healing (better than she thought they would be) but there are still some areas that have dead skin that will eventually fall off so we need to keep a close eye to make sure they...

    Ducks attacked by dog

Just a quick update. She's very perky today and last night she laid an egg. Absolutely shocked when I found it this morning. I really thought the shock would make her stop laying for a while but she only had one day off.

Yea, we will definitely get her another mate as soon as she's better. At the moment she is always around people so hopefully shes not so lonely. We are also in the process of making her the safest space we can in the garden. She wont have as much room as before, but it's still a nice big area...

Just a couple of pictures of the injury and her popping her head out in the morning. Transferring her to a travel cot this afternoon so she has more room to move once her foot is splinted.

    Ducks attacked by dog

Hi guys. Mrs duck is doing really well. Her wounds seem to be healing, she's preening herself and starting to do things she used to do before the attack (honk at me and nip at my fingers). Now we can get closer to her we have discovered a clear fracture on the foot she holds up. It's on the...

    Ducks attacked by dog

The vet was very on the fence about whether we should stitch her up or put her down. I think at the end of the day it came down to the cost, and we thought she was worth it. I think if she had been as unresponsive as my drake was, and as badly injured as him, I would have put her down. But she...
