Thank you for the advice, I gave them a kiddie pool and he was able to breed one while she was distracted trying to get into the pool. Either way they seem to be happy to have more water to play in. I have a creek that most of the ducks spend the day in. The drake is only 8-12 months, I know...
I know this is an older thread but you seem to be the ones to ask, I'm thinking of putting a lavender Ancona in with my Appleyards just to see what I get. As both breeds are rare I wasn't planning on mixing but I'm curious.
I am trying to breed my Silver Appleyards, the girls are not cooperating with the drake. The three ducks and a drake came from the same breeder so I separated the girls and put them with a different drakes to prevent line breeding. The drake is trying but the girls are not cooperating with him...
I couldn't get this to post sooner, but these are the two with bad legs it's the best I could get as they can't stand up long, I took them to a vet and got vitamin supplements. They get water therapy and I stretch the tendon to keep it from locking. Is there anything else I can do?
Okay, I was just checking. They are just getting their feathers I'm guessing the age 4-6 weeks but can't be sure as they were malnutrished before I got them. I have been working with two of them that have the tendon damage from it.
I am wondering if there is a way to sex and age these Appleyard ducklings. There are four Ancona's I hatched four weeks ago as well. I am trying to sex the Appleyards but can't tell by voice yet. Some are lighter and I was wondering if that ment they were girls or is it just the different...
When I got them no one knew what they were, guess I was four years to early. I wouldn't want to breed now as some people would get them just because they are popular right now.
Hello, everyone. I'm new to Backyard Chickens. I don't have any chickens...I prefer ducks currently have Muscovys laying, Rouens three months old, Anconas three days old (only five hatched out of eighteen eggs) and finally got some Silver Appleyards! So excited about them! I have wanted them for...
I tried to post a picture, I haven't been a member very long so it didn't show it. He pasted away last night. I'd hoped it would be okay as he was one of the six that had hatched out of thirty six eggs I'd gotten from ebay. The other five seem to be okay. Thank you for your reply.
My Ancona hatched on 7/16/16 this one still has a bump on his belly three days later, it's smaller and has trouble walking with this dragging, it's starting to tear. I am afraid it might get an infection. But don't want to make it worse. Any suggestions?
I recently got a Muscovy hen that has angel wing on both wings, she's already laying and all the fixes I have seen are for ducklings is it still fixable? She healthy other than that. I call her my flying nun duck, and will keep her regardless if it is or isn't permanent.
