That helps a great deal thank you! I have 6 Colombian wyandotte's and I have no idea which one is which, but 4 of them are at the top of the order so hopefully she is one of the 4. For the past 4 months almost every egg I eat is fertile so there is a good chance these are. My only concern is I...
So my Colombian Wyandotte went broody on 6 hopefully fertile eggs. I have zero experience with a broody and would like some advice on a successful hatch. So first off... Is the nesting box (the white/yellow containers in the top right side). Are those too high up (about 3 feet off the ground)...
Basically I raise the chickens for eggs and meat. So I have dual purpose breeds that I'm crossing to make good egg producers and good meat. The best roosters I sell locally to free range chicken owners as flock protectors. I kinda fell into that as people in my area are always looking for a good...
I sell eggs to support my growing chicken habit. I keep track of notable events like azgous does and I also keep track of egg/rooster sales and how much I spend on food, coop materials, fencing...ECT. So I at least break even on my costs. Good thing the chickens pay for themselves or I'd be...
They seem ok. I gave her the pill Tuesday night and she took it no problem. Also stuck my finger in her vent to check for eggs. Never want to do that again! Lol The one hen spent most of her afternoon in the nest box and slept there last night on top of 4 eggs so I'm wondering if she is going...
Nope, if you are hooked that's it! Once your in the poultry game there is no getting Out! It's the drug they never taught you about in school! :P may as well embrace it. :D
So I just happened to check the food stats... Turns out it's medicated. I had no idea...I never use medicated feed. Could this be the reason the hens are acting like they are?
I don't know if they are pooping or not. I spend pretty much all day out with my chickens after I get off work but I have 20 hens and a roo. I have no idea who is pooping and what color it is. Especially with the wyandotte's since I can't tell em apart. I feel bad I can't keep track of stuff...
I don't have any calcium. I can try putting my finger up her vent. I don't feel an egg when I feel around her abdomen. I can run to the store and get calcium. Are those things ok to do since the hens are all perched up for the night?
I don't. I have 6 Colombian wyandotte's and I can't tell them apart or tell who laid what egg. The first set of picks and the second set are 2 different wyandotte's. The first posted picture is of the girl who started acting weird today and the second post is the one who was acting weird since...
