Just on update on Marionville's Chicken ordinance. It passed on 6-12-12, We may now keep up to 6 hens, so long as we follow the cities set backs, which are 7.5' from the property line.
Getting it to pass took a bit of doing, I ended up getting elected to city council to help make it happen.
Hello Again from Marionville. Just wanted to pass along to those semi local to my area. Saturday the 18th at 2pm at the gazebo in the Marionville town square the City Council is hosting a meeting to establish a Farmers Market. The intent being to set it up so that it runs in the evenings so...
I personally win either way, I've got a privacy fence, only want 3 birds, and have already talked to my neighbors. But, my wife wanted me to make it legal if I could.
The meeting ended up just shy of a joke. Half of the committee thought we were there to debate the pro's and con's of backyard hens, so an ordinance was never drafted. The only agreement that could be reached was to draft a petition to see if drafting an ordinance is worth the cities time.
www.cacklehatchery.com is the one she found.
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, I just walked in the door.
The meeting is in an hour, "630" pm at the marionville fire department.
The wife found a hatchery in Lebanon with Easter Eggers, those intrigued her enough to get on board with this whole deal.
I have a 6 foot privacy fence and plan on 2-3 hens so umm... this ordinance change only sort of affects me. my chicken tractor is built, I figured i'd just wait for march...
well, Currently we aren't allowed to have chickens at all, unless we have 3 acres zoned agricultural, I've copied Springfields ordinance, and the meeting on thursday is to tailor it to fit Marionville.

I'm from Marionville as well, I've lived here about 3 years.
if you hear murmurings of a chicken ordinance here, that's partially my fault, We've got the Committee meeting this Thursday to write the ordinance, and it "Should" come up for vote the following Thursday.
Any of you Marionville...
