He was murdered by a 15 year old kid while working on a customer's car just a few months after this episode.....

I only use this coop in the spring time when I put the little ones out after they have feathered out. The run is next to the bigger run with the big coop so the little ones get used to being near the bigger chickens and visa versa. It is only when I get the coop ready for them to go in or when I move them to the bigger coop. I know that has to be a way to block the latch - maybe a twist tie in the one part would be enough. i just forget about it until I am locked in again. Well, it gives my husband an excuse to come rescue me.
