I use layena feed and I free range my chickens and they seem to be doing fine in the egg production, although they spend a lot of time at the compost pile chasing after the worms, centipeds, ticks and other insects. My wife also feeds them kitchen scrap like, rice, toast, pancake, old bread and...

How can I make my hens go broody? The rooster is new, I got him two weeks ago. He has been getting on top of the hens, but they keep laying eggs after another. I want at least to go broody and hatch eggs.
Thanks.

Hi everyone,
I thought that the night my hen went to her nest to sleep, it was because she has gone broody, but that did not happened because the came out in the morning and stayed out during the day, until night fall. She's been doing this since Saturday. She has laid over a dozen eggs...
The hen will intentionally turn the eggs every so often. Also, when the chicks are hatching, the hen will help in the process. I saw this numerous of times when I was young. Sometimes, I helped the chicks be born when I got impatient. I was a kid then.
Hello,
I had to get rid of my rooster on Sunday, meaning that he was last with the hen on Saturday. The hen laid eggs on Tuesday and Wednesday (today). Are these two eggs fertile?
Also, are fertile eggs placed in the refrigerator still good?
Thanks.
Will rain spoil the fertilize eggs. My hen decided to nest under brushes, which gets wet when it rain. I was thinking of letting her go broody and hatch the eggs, but now that they gotten wet, I am worried.

Sometimes some hen will crow like a rooster. In my native country, when a hen does this she is killed, due to some stupid supertision. Hen with spurs are also common, they are vicious when they are brooding. They will use the spurs to defend their chicks.

I am just a home owner who want to...
