    Rainwater good or not ?

I can't imagine chickens needing bottled water!

    PVC upright feeder.

There is a screw cap that fits inside perfectly so the pipe is flush with the ground (or whatever it ends up resting on). Thanks!

    PVC upright feeder.

We recently built this feeder in anticipation of getting chickens. Has anyone made something like this? The 2" pipe inside holds the feed and when the chooks put their head inside it prevents the feed from being spread around the floor. If it works, I will put the full plans on my site. It seems...

We also have a rain barrel to nipple system. It is so easy. There are more pictures here.

Thank you all for the responses about my neighbors! I don't know how you all keep up with this thread. I am baking bread as a peace offering for my angry neighbor. Hopefully I will be posting pictures of my chickens soon!

I live in the Greenwood neighborhood and just finished my coop. One of my neighbors has started complaining before we have gotten any chickens. They are concerned about noise and rats.Has anyone else helped smooth over their neighbors. When laying begins, I will be happy to give them some eggs...

    Rain barrel nipple waterer.

In the coop it is used as chicken litter (as opposed to kitty litter) for easy removal of poop.

    Rain barrel nipple waterer.

That is the plan, do as little work as possible. We were trying to be as cheap as possible, so we got some old used buckets to use as rain barrels. The buckets had some cracks that we didn't notice until we added water, but it all seems to work now... Let me know if you need any more info.

    new chicken waterer

We built our own. It is fed from a rain barrel. I have pictures here.

    Rain barrel nipple waterer.

Almost finished the rain barrel to nipple watering system. We just need the right sized drill bit to make hole in the PVC. Off to Home Depot for that and sand! Sand seems to be many people's favorite thing! There are more pictures here.

    Got sand? You should!

Do you keep sand in the coop and the run? Do your chickens poop mostly when roosting? My roost is in the coop.

Thank you for the tips! We have a nipple system set up. We have gutters collecting water in a rain barrel on the coop that leads to a nipple system. We also have a feeder that I am excited about. I will post pictures as soon as it is up and running. We have narrowed our list of potential birds...

    Coop pics****

Here is the before and after picture of our coop. All free wood from Craigslist. I see so many pictures of people's coop with new wood from the hardware store. It looks very nice! We also added gutters and a rain barrel to gravity feed our nipple waterer.
