Hi all,
This morning my Cayuga duck was just fine and no problem walking. I came home and she was moving very slowly, and her legs seem very unstable and now she is using her wings to brace herself. No other signs of issues. Breathing just fine, quack is fine etc. I looked at her feet and no...
Hey everyone!
My cayuga duck today seemed to have a problem quacking properly. It's muffled. Like she's underwater. As I listen to her near my ear it sounds like wheezing. She also literally puts her face in mud almost all the time. Anyway to tell it's just backed up in there or a respiratory...
Hi all,
So I awoke to a surprise this morning from my Cayuga, a little egg! A green one. The thing is, I have a drake, so not sure if it's from mating or not. If so, how long until an embryo starts? Is grabbing the egg the day it's laid and putting it in the fridge ensuring it's edible and not...
Hey all,
Just curious about this one. At around 7 am my cayuga (female) goes wild with her quacking. She always does a movement with her head where she moves it up and down over and over again while quacking her little brains out. Just curious if any of you know why she does this or you've seen...
Hey everyone,
Quick question. I have almost a full grown hen that I've had for almost 6 months now. Yesterday I went and bought a chick to raise. I was curious to see the hen's reaction to the chick when near each other and the hen kept pecking at the chick hurting it. Why was she doing that...
She's glided, not really flown. I'll keep an eye out for any sign of a predator. Because if something did come, it might try again. Thanks for all your insight!
Thanks for the advice. There's none that I've seen.
I always check the overhead birds to make sure no predators. I went to the closest pond, and he's not there. It's just so random. The female is a cayuga. Why didn't she go with him? That's what my hangup is when I speculate that he flew away.
=( He grew up with the female duck. Is that uncommon for him to want to leave her? I'm planning to get another duck. Will she have a hard time making a new friend?
Yes, they have places to hide. I originally think he could have been taken up but he's about 5 months old now, so a good size. I think it would have been tough to grab him and fly away. Also, he's very quick and has flown around in the yard so I know he could have dodged a strike.
Hey everyone,
Situation here and looking for some insight. At around 7 am, I looked at my backyard (I live in a community of homes) and my birds were fine. (1 drake, 1 female duck, 1 chicken). They were free ranging this morning. It started raining heavily so I decided to go get my hen and...
