The three babies are doing good. They made it! I was about to give up on the five eggs we brought in. I just heard a bunch of chirping from the bathroom and one had hatched! Yay!
The sick o e didn't make it . I think there was domething wrong with it. Everytime we git it to perk up it would go downhill again. The momma gen abandoned the other two babies. We thought they were dead they were so cold and suddenly we saw movement. They got some tlc and are doing fine now.
We had four eggs hatch and our broody hen abandoned a baby. We brought it in and then brought in another chick to keep it company. Not sure the abandoned one is gonna make it. Can the other baby be put back in the coop with momma hen after a day?
Our broody little hen was sitting on 9 eggs, most likeyl only 8 viable eggs. Three of them have hatched and she has left the nest. So the other 6 eggs, minus the one are going to get cold before I get home from work. My mom is keeping an eye on momma hen and chicks. Is there anything she can...
We have two chicks that are about a week old. Haven't been able to get to them much because momma is very protective but I have noticed one hops around on one foot and holds the other foot up with the toes curled like a claw. Anything I should do or can the chick adapt on its own?
We are in Kansas. It has been pretty sunny lately. Finally got some rain yesterday after a very dry stretch. The eggs are in the coop and we collect them every evening so they aren't out there too long.
The yolks don't seem really light but it's been so long since I have seen a store egg...
The eggs we have been getting from our hens lately seem to have really weak yolks. They break everytime I crack an egg. Even when I try to roll it out of the shell gently. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Is it something to do with their diet?
We have two coops. One has 4 hens and a rooster that are a little over a year old. The other has nine chickens that are about 3 months old. We have heard some rooster crow attempts a few times this week but haven't figured out exactly how many roosters we are going to get.
ANYWAY, recently a...
I just hatched 14 baby chicks. All of them were picking on one of them. It looks like the yolk was not fully absorbed and they were pecking at it making it bleed. There is something hanging off the spot where they were pecking. Is there anything that I can do to help it. I did move it out and...
Can you put the part of a Mango out for them that has the pit in it. There is a lot of fruit around the ones I just made baby food out of. Sure didn't know they were so hard to get apart!
