    If they float in water, they're bad. They keep in the fridge for at least a month.

    They don't start laying until about 6 months. Just keep checking!

    I use well water. Never had a problem. Ground water usually has a good dose of calcium.

    Spots on my brown eggs.

    I have an Orpington that lays brown eggs and occasionally she lays an egg with dark spots all over it. None of my other two lay eggs with spots. So, I'm curious why somedays they are perfect and sometimes they're spotty. Any thoughts?

    No, don't expect to save any money. You'll be hard-pressed to break even. Most of us do it for quality meat and self sustainability.

    I can't find a net for catching a chicken. Im not sure if fish nets work great because of the thin nylon and there pretty expensive.
