Coop Condo
These are just a few pictures of my "Coop Condo." My son actually got me interested in the "chicken business" in April of 2008, when he bought 10 three day old chicks at the local feed mill. He originally bought five RIR and five Bard Rocks.
We have bought and sold here and...

You have to buy a ton to get a substantial price reduction, but...
I have to agree. I ran 12/2 off a 20 amp breaker and while I was trenching, went ahead and ran the water there as well...WOW! Never regret that a day. However, I did run my wire in condit just to insure that I wouldn't dig into it later...
The first thing that comes to mind is the fact that if you leave the rabbits in the run, they are going to dig out! My son had a rabbit get out of his cage (which was in his chicken pen) and the next morning that girl had nearly dug to China! Just a thought!
You did an outstanding job. If you are like me and most people on BYC, you will never get through adding this and that...as long as Lowes and Home Depot (and Craigs List) are around, I think we'll keep building and building...
I was actually thinking about doing the same thing, so I'll keep an eye out for the posts that follow. I have a Mantis Tiller that would be great in the pens and run...

I had some chicks in the brooder and we watched this thing like a "hawk." Poor illustration... I know...
However, right at the hatch date, everything was going great, yet four eggs didn't peep...at all, even though we had candled at 14 days and all seemed well. We left them in the bator for...
I have a couple of hens that are missing feathers on their backs. Possibly this is from a very "friendly" roo. However, I separated them for 2-3 months and their feathers aren't growing back at all...maybe a small feather here and there, but certainly not like normal.
I really don't know what...
Can you use hardware cloth for the floor of a chicken coop that is 4x8. I know that we will have to support it well so that it won't sag, etc. But will this work?
I thought it would be a lot easier to get washed out etc. Sooooo, what do you guys think?

I am raising the same thing and I contacted someone that I found on the web that raises full blood SLW. I will share with you what he shared with me. I found this very informative.
Here is goes...
I will do my best to describe to you the differences in hatchery stock and my stock. I am...
I have always hears that there is no silly question if you don't know the answer... So here it goes...
Does a broody hen still continue to lay eggs?

The hen count could be a factor here I suppose. I only have eight hens all together. (2RIR, 2Buffs, 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 2 Barreds)
I have a coop that is 4 by 8 with two stories and an 8 by run. I wasn't sure if I could add more hens to this coop or not. Getting more hens is not...
I am not sure that I am putting this in the right place, but I'll try it anyway.
I have two 10 month old roosters that have been raised together since three days old. One Barred Rock and one RIR. The Barred has been the "King of the Coop" since day one. They never actually fought, but he would...
