    Hello, I'm new here...

I love the idea of getting a heritage breed. I myself have 2 heritage breeds (Orpington and a SLW) and I love them! SLW's aren't the friendliest breed in my experience, but I have heard that they are great layers (though mine hasn't started laying yet). I do have a mutt EE, and she seems to have...

    Breed questions?

My Rhode Island Red was the sweetest little baby! Loved being held and petted, but sadly I lost her to disease. My Easter Egger is sweet too. She loves being held close to your chest and she will lay colorful eggs. My Buff Orpington isn't quite as sweet, but she gets along really well with the...

    Chicks acting strangely?

They have calmed down. they have feed at all times, feeder is full, they can reach the feeder and water, they are 5 weeks, they are in a room away from all cats and dogs, they are inside so there are no insects. I still don't know what happened.

    How Long?

Geese live an average of 10-24 years but can live up to 30 years.

    Chicks acting strangely?

The three chicks I have are all going crazy. They are all making strange and LOUD sounds and running around quickly while still maintaining a huddle. One has her feathers all puffed up and us standing up straight as can be. This all started happening all of a sudden, nothing to trigger it or...

    inside out egg?

Yes, just keep an eye on her and if she lays strange eggs frequently it could mean there is a problem

Chicken acting strangely? Is she sick?

She keeps getting up and plopping back down on her side and she is breathing heavily. When she gets back up she stands up as straight as possible and makes strange noises. What could be wrong with her and will she be alright?

    Porcelain Silkie or something else?

I think it is a lavender.

    Got REALLY lucky today!

Thank heavens! Glad to hear all the babies are okay!

    inside out egg?

Is it a new layer? New layers are known to occasionally lay a deformed egg or two and even experienced layers can sometimes lay a strange egg. As long as this doesn't become a regular occurrence she should be fine.

    Pullet or Roo?

I vote pullet, roos would probably have wattles by now.

Update: Is this a Blue Orpington or Blue Araucana, plus others not so sure about.

I am not sure about the others, but the first is an Orpington, as Araucanas don't have tails :)
