    Lice/Mite Treatment eating eggs??

I have 5mg/1mL stuff. Its so tough to figure out the correct dose. I used an eye dropper and tried to do 3 drops for the smaller henss (silkies and leghorns), 5 for the bigger ones (brahmas, rhode island reds, etc) and 7 for my big roosters (australorp and orpington) turkeys I did a bit more...

    Lice/Mite Treatment eating eggs??

I know, I agree. I feel like we end up using more unsafe methods this way, it's all mixed information on the internet I'm going by here, if I could just go purchase what I need without a prescription I'd feel so much better, just can't justify that vet bill.

    Lice/Mite Treatment eating eggs??

Thanks for the input everyone!! I am in Canada and where I live it's tough to find any types of medications or treatments for chickens unless I feel like dishing out $300+ for a vet, who doesnt even typically treat poultry, to come inspect my flock then pay more for meds. I had a jug of cattle...

    Lice/Mite Treatment eating eggs??

Hi, I found some little mites or lice on my chickens, I discovered after one hen died :(. I tried dusting the ones who looked infested with Diatamatious Earth and adding it to their dust bath. I gave them about a week and a half and kept seeing the bugs. So after doing some research decided...

Leg and toe issues white turkeys

Just did some research on Perosis and looks like it can be an inherited problem as well and can be treated with manganese suppliment. So I'm going to see if there is a simple source of some of these nutrients that I can incorporate into their water or feed. I'm also going to contact the...

Leg and toe issues white turkeys

Thank you for your response! I have them living with my broilers and I feed turkey/game bird starter mixed with poultry grower. As I don't have facilities to keep them seperated. I have raised heritage turkeys before and never had an issue with them sharing the same feed as the chickens. I'm...

Leg and toe issues white turkeys

Hi everyone! This year we bought some white broad breasted turkeys to butcher up this fall, thought they would be simple and easy to raise and get some tasty meat in the end. They are about 6 weeks old and all seem to be healthy birds, they currently live in a movable tractor and I'm allowing...

Caring for free range hen with poults

I have had one of my free range turkey hens sitting broody on eggs for for a month in the trees outside my run. Yesterday I finally gave up on her eggs and I found her some babies to adopt. She has accepted them and they are all doing well (3 little poults and 1 duckling ☺) now I was feeling...

Blood poops everywhere.. birds seem fine

Just wanting to post an update. Our local vet literally was charging an arm and a leg to come out and diagnose so I could medicate them. It would have almost made more sense for me to just cull all my birds and replace them. So I did some research and found some "natural remedies" I added...

Blood poops everywhere.. birds seem fine

I have about 50 mixed chickens, 6 turkeys a d 2 guineas. We had our roughly 25 older birds (between 4 and 5 months old) in a seperate coop and recently moved them to their new coop along with the baby chicks and turkeys. The baby chicks (4 weeks) have all been vaccinated at the hatchery and all...

Mixed Flock feed - turkeys, layers and baby chicks

Thanks I just bought starter feed today. The lady at the store said to just offer oyster shell on the side for the hens. Hope it will work. What kind of turkeys do you have?

Mixed Flock feed - turkeys, layers and baby chicks

I have some hens that are soon to start laying currently eating grower ration (my understanding is they should eat this until they start to lay then switch to layer ration). They have 2 guineas living in there too. These guys all free range and eat a lot of garden goodies and weeds, etc but...
