Hi all. I have a chicken that I am pretty sure has peritonitis. Earlier today I found a lash egg in the nest box. The question i have is: if I cull her, would the meat still be usable if I butcher her out, or does the infection spoil the rest of the meat? I tried googling, but I couldn't find an...
I don't have any pictures, and I did try offering egg but she didn't seem interested. There is fresh water available in my isolation pen as well as the vinegar water. I'm trying the tuna. When I held it in her direction, she did peck at it, so we'll see. After treating her and getting a bit...
Hi all. One of my lavender orps has a severe case of vent gleet. I didn't recognize it for what it was until it had progressed and the hen started isolating herself. I brought her in and cleaned her up and started treating topically with monistat. I had read about feeding her some too, but...
Poor babies, the both of them. Gabby had a hard molt last year too, but she did it earlier, so I thought she might not be molting hard this year. I was wrong.
Hey all! Long time no chat. My birds are doing well but poor Gabby has decided to molt now that the wet and cold is back. I am equal parts sad for her and amused by how scraggly she looks. One of my lavender orps is almost as bad. The other chickens had the good sense to drop their feathers...
Yeah, but I don't think I want to go through the trouble. She didn't act at all sick and none of the other gals do either. No frostbite or distress from the cold to be seen.
I offered to let my chooks out today and they all just stood at the run gate, looking at all of the snow like "what is this crap??" I gave them some corn and shut them back in the run again.
Found one of my Australorp girls dead in the coop. Not sure what did her in, because she looked super...
Yeah, we googled Starbuck. I was so confused by the Columbia County thing because I grew up in Columbia County...Oregon. I wasn't even aware that there was one in Washington. LOL!
Thanks for the response! I'm just now coming back to the forums so I'm just seeing it. Drainage on my property is an ISSUE(TM), and putting a French drain/trench where my run is is not plausible. Just digging the trench to sink my hardware cloth below ground was a lot of work because of how...
It's been raining pretty hard at my place for three days. Tried to tarp the part of my run that isn't roofed...and it didn't work out very well. I need to get up on the ladder and adjust how it's draped, but I can't really do it until it stops raining. Hopefully tomorrow.
