    Pele, this is a bit off topic , but regarding your roses just plant one clove of garlic at the base of the bush near the roots and the aphids should go away. It flavors the plant and they hate it, works for mine.

    my hen died yesterday , she simply stopped breathing. I am pretty sure that it was internal injuries. My roo has not injured any others and his nails are still blunt so I guess that I will continue to file them as needed and keep a better eye out

    looks like rooster damage to me, I have 14 hens and 1 roo and still had to put a hen apron on one to let her heal after he skinned her side by accident. I hear that they mellow with age , but I had two roos and they caused alot of stress reclaiming the hens all day .
