Those are great pics! Thanks for sharing. That is so sweet of the Mama hen with her chicks. The birdie I have has only a few tail feathers that are long, not as many feathers as a hen usually has.
This is a rescue bird from some friends that had her wonder into their urban yard in North County San Diego. They asked around the neighborhood but no one claimed her or knew who she belong to. They asked me to take her in due to me having a backyard flock. But I'm not sure she is a chicken...
Hello-
I do have hens that are kept in a yard that falls just a little short of the current required amount of 50ft from all residences. I have been in communication with all neighbors to ensure the chickens do not bother them and all is OK. However someone did report them, perhaps just a...
Hello San Diego, glad to see this discussion.
I am also in SD city limits. I do not quite have the 50 ft to all residences as the city code states. I hope to ask for the 'Special Permit' that the city code ALSO states. Have you or anyone you know in San Diego gotten this permit?

OH NOOO I think it's a wonderful thing to celebrate! I new at this and I remember there was a lot to watch for and be careful about in those early days. We put a lot of TLC into building them a safe coop too! SO all said and done, so glad they all are 'cackling' strong and popping out happy eggs...

I think I read that the girls are 'Pullets'...
My beau & I hosted an Easter Brunch with two tasty Egg Fritatas- produced by the fancy gals themselves! I put bows on the girls just for a few fun pics, but we got a kick out of the 'ladies' that end up sporting them for more than 4 hours! They also created a 'real life' egg hunt for my little...

Congrats! That's GREAT!! I ordered mine girlies from there a year ago. They are beautiful and healthy! Hey the more the merrier! Enjoy and please post the pics! :-)
These are great comments! I feel like I have found my flock here!
My chickens are so spoiled that they have their very own facebook fan page called The Chicks of North Park (link below)! If you are on facebook, please be a Fan and DO feel free to post comments and pics on it! That way friends...
