    color identification and breeding questions

Thank you for the correction on the purple black shoulder, much appreciated!! are the pea babies considered juvenile at 1 yr of age? Our white peahen is laying again so I am guessing she is the mom of the juvenile. The other one (colored) has not been seen laying yet so that is why we are...

Pea chick hatched July 17, 2014/Color?/Gender?

Thanks Dylan's Mom. I don't know what the hen is, as far as influence from purple or blue, this is her first hatch. Sadly, we lost the other 3 that she hatched out (naturally) and this little guy is the lone survivor, so they are currently in a tractor at the moment. I was trying to see...

Pea chick hatched July 17, 2014/Color?/Gender?

Hi…I'm pretty sure the one cock is a purple black shoulder…that is what I was told when I bought from a peafowl farm in the midwest. Here is a better pic of him compared to the India blue. You can see he is definitely purple necked. I am curious, is he NOT a black shoulder? Many thanks!

Pea chick hatched July 17, 2014/Color?/Gender?

The hen is white and we believe the cock to be our purple black shoulder (???) and not our India blue. The Purple though smaller is very dominant over the blue and chased him away this breeding season, hence we think its our purple cock as sire. (our peafowl are free range). We did coop the hen...

HELP! A lady on a poultry list we are both on notified said list there was an old redwood incubator available which I promptly snatched up but it took a couple of weeks to get it. She had to travel 100s of miles to bring it to a poultry show so I could pick it up. Long story short, it is a...
