https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=diy+egg+washer A few videos to chose from at that link. This thread is why I like the types of web communities that 'share' information. I was looking for a guide to building an egg-washer. Thanks to the OP! PS sorry for bumping an old...

urgent help; 3 eggs in a day

We just had one of our Dominiques act like she was egg-bound. She ended up laying 2 eggs in a span of a few hours from each other; both had soft or no shell. The very next day she was laying perfect eggs again, and back to her old self.

gotcha! I suppose I could sell them on craigslist or similar as well. I do not want to get overwhelmed with chickens :P I ordered a trap door for a nest. Im going to try it out for a fit test with what I have built already, see if I can make it work for me. If so I will order more for the...

if you cull before they produce plumage, what are you doing with the young birds? selling them or are they dogs treats, compost? Trap nesting, I was wondering how I was going to connect my hens to their eggs. I actually have a hen that consistently produces double yoke eggs. Ill have to...

So I would have to wait until about the 5-6 month mark to be able to identify the ideal traits from the hatched chicks? Or do you cull earlier than that?

But I am concerned that since they all came together from the same hatchery, that he might be related to the hens. Should I go ahead and pick up another Dom rooster from a different...

Thank you for sharing your experience with the RIR on a larger scale. I was having a hard time receiving the reviews Ive read so far with people only owning 2 to 4 birds.

I think Dominiques are underrated. Very docile, intelligent birds. They wander and work hard for their meals, foraging all day long. At first I thought the black and white pattern would be dull, unexciting, but after owning them now for a few months, they are quite beautiful after all. If...

yes, Dom eggs! They have had free access to "Texas Natural Feed" since they were 3 days old. [Chick starter] at first then we moved them to [Layer Pellets]. Since they've been on layer pellets they do not eat as much "feed". They(14 hens 1 rooster) wander about 3-4 acres each day; They are...

We cracked our first eggs open! The bottom two yokes that are touching were from one egg. 3 whites were pretty clear, 3 were slightly cloudy. ALL were super tasty! lol Wife made mushroom Quiche.
