No eggs in over a month.

The younger ones I don't expect anything from but the older ones have red combs, wattles, etc. They've never laid. Well there was one small egg that I thought might be a pullet egg but I wasn't sure because one of the hens sometimes lays eggs on the small side. I'm seriously considering...

No eggs in over a month.

I have 2 older hens and 10 pullets. 4 of them are about 26 weeks, the others are somewhere around 18-20 weeks. I also have 4 roosters that I can't wait to get rid of. Not one of them is laying. I had 3 hens that were laying and one died, I don't know why but since she died there hasn't been...

    What is the "Egg Song"

It's basically a whole lot of racket that a hen makes to announce to the world that she laid an egg. Not one of mine does it though.

Who else is waiting the impossible wait?

Mine are 20 weeks. There have been a couple of eggs that I've wondered about but they just look too big to be pullet eggs. Even my hens have slowed down. I think one of them stopped laying all together, one is sporadic and the other one has been so/so. Out of 8 chicks I know 4 are boys and...

    Free ranging reducing laying?

Mine don't free range but if they are out in the run, they won't lay. I only have one that will occassionally lay there if she really has to, but otherwise if they are out in the run before they would normally lay, there won't be any eggs that day from any of them.

Do they hold the eggs in?

Interesting. Tonight I came home and saw one of the hens making a huge racket pacing in front of the door to the run. I let her out and she ran for the coop and went straight into the egg box. It was 8 at night! I hope they get comfy laying in the run soon because I don't want to keep them...

Do they hold the eggs in?

I like to let my chickens out into the run every day but it is not attached to the coop yet so once they are in, they are in. I can't always wait until they lay their eggs to let them into the run because I have to leave for the day. I noticed that on the days when I put them in the run early...

    Did she hide the egg?

Yesterday while out in the run, one of my chickens started screeching to get to the nest box. She went in and sat and sat and sat and sat and sat. She would leave and come back but mostly just sat. I saw her for over an hour. When I went back to check on her, she came running up to me...

Bloody beak and problem with vent

The chick died but I would still love any thoughts so I can take care of it if it comes up again. The vent was seeping a clear fluid. It didn't seem plugged.

Any idea what breed these tiny chicks are?

I got some new chicks today at the feed store. There are 2 that are teeny tiny. The person at the store said they are 3 weeks old but all of them seem so small still. the tiny ones do have quite a bit of feathers. Here is a pic of them next to one that the guy said was a partridge rock. Any...

Add her back to the flock?

As far as I can tell based on the condition of the engine, she probably was there the whole time. She was found when the truck wouldn't run right! I tried putting her in the run tonight. It went ok but they kind of ganged up on her a little. I was going to separate her again but when the...
