    I'm curious to know when I can stop using the heat lamp above our chicks. They are almost 5 weeks old and have most all of their feathers. They are still inside the house which is a constant 70 degrees....for now, hopefully I can get their coop built soon...they are starting to make a mess!

    We have some 1-1/2 week old pullets. I read somewhere that they like a 4" high roost. When should I add this to the brooder?

    half blind silkie chick?!

    We just got a batch of new chicks three days ago and one of our Ameracauna pullets has the exact same problem....same eye even. She is acting fine other than the closed eye. If you find out a cure, please let me know! Good Luck. Steve

    New Chick Question

    Thanks all for the replies. From what we can see, their doesn't seem to be any additional symptoms that she is exhibiting. She's eating, drinking, and running with the rest of the flock. I'll continue to monitor her closely and look for additional signs/symptoms.
