Hi, we recently moved to savoy, IL. Is here anyone from there? I wanted to know the local law/ordinance regarding backyard chicken here. Also, how to approach to start on the base of your experience. If anyone can shed some light on it, that'll be really great!😃 thanks in advance.
The mom had 2 more eggs but she stopped sitting on them. The chick died this afternoon😔 the other chick is with mom and started eating the chick starter i gave and water.
Update: so this morning i noticed pasty butt on the chick, I've cleaned it and will keep an eye for it. Another thing, it's not walking or opening it's eyes. When i got it out to check it was chirping very strongly though and found it's way under mama kind of scrolling. I've gave her 4/5 drops...
There are 5 more eggs, it's a mix batch. The hatched one has olive egger mom, not sure abt the dad😳 i have 2 rooster, one Australop and another one is a mixed bantam(my guess he has copper maran gene). I was not planning to hatch so didn't care to separate them.
She's better now, all fluffy and walking, chirping. Still has some naval thing though, but it's on the drying side. Thanks a lot❤ @Crazy Maizie @DobieLover @aart
So the chick has kicked out of the membrane. It is chirping and kicking strongly. But it has something out as can be seen in the pictures. There is no blood but i see a very thin thread like sth sticking out. Will it go in with time? I've clean the area little bit and put her back under mama...
The chick is still alive and stronger than before. It's chirping and kicking now😃 still has tiny bit yolk to absorb i guess (not sure) but it's warm under mama with another sibling hatched earlier😍. I'll update you later with pic if it survives. Thank you.
I have heat bulb( red one), can i use that? If i put it under light, do i put anything else with it? I read somewhere water for moisture? For now, it's under the hen. It moves but not frequently.
I've peeled the shell back to almost to the end, didn't touch the membrane. I don't see anything out but the stomach is still attach to the membrane and wet. I'll apply oil to the membrane. Thanks a lot. This is my second time hatching and I'm very nervous 😓
