I kind of figured it would be a separation game.. I'm thinking since I'm getting a gosling this weekend I may as well just buy another feed tub and keep the chicks (just 2 of them) separated from the duck and gosling.
Which crops up a whole new question.. Does the goslling have the same feed...
Ah, yea, I had no idea.. She just seemed smallish like a Call duck... That was my only point of reference. I know, kind of like seeing a little person and assuming they were a doll. :)
How do the egg laying capabilities compare with Campbells and Indian Runners? I had a wonderful indian runner...
Today I'm gonna pick up some brewers yeast to add to my new duckling, Basil's chick start crumbles. I'm wondering though, is it okay for her two chick friends to eat the yeast too? Or should I separate them when I want basil to get a little yeast?
Well, I caved in and bought a duck from the feed store.. I planned to only go in and get a lunge whip.. And came out with 2 chicks and a duck, so I think I did well.
This store rarely carries ducks, so I was super excited to see what they did get in. The sign said "Assorted Ducks" but they...
baby duck didn't make it. I checked on it one more time when I got home from work last night and he was peeping and poking his bill out. Then this morning I checked and he had died. 75% of the shell was off him, just the papery membrane remained. I think he was just stuck and I should've helped...
*sigh* okay. Looks like I have a case of the antsywannatouchyhelperouterness. I promise I will only look ONE more time tonight when I get home from work, then the egg wont hear peep outta me. ...till morning.
I had him snap a picture the last time he was out. Since you have pictures to go off of, any additional advice?
(I suppose matt thought it was necessary to label the bill with a cutesy name. lol)
do I need to worry about the humidity levels then? Or since it's being incubated by an actual hen should she have that under control? In the several times Matt has gone out to moisten it today he said the membrane-like papery stuff is dry.
My broody silkie hen has been sitting on this duck egg what seems like forever... And today, finally I saw that it was pipped. Luckily my boyfriend went home from work sick, so now he can keep an eye on it. I saw it pipped at 630 this am, it's 12:45 now.. Is it normal that it has not hatched...
