My chicken(her name's Ruffy) has flystrike, and I treated her by flushing her vent with water and picking out the maggots, I then sprayed some saline solution, vetricyn, and dusted her vent and the area around it with gold Bond powder. She's separated from the flock and there is quit a bit of...
Sometimes treats can interfere with your chickens' regular feed intake. If you feed them treats you should do it in the afternoon, which works out for you because that's the hottest part of the day.
I feed my chickens treats in the late afternoon when I come home. I give them watermelon...
I bought some epsom salt to treat diarreah in my flock. The problem is I couldn't find the pure kind, only one that has citrus extracts in it. The brand is Dr. Teals epsom salt with citrus. Is this safe to feed orally to my hens?
Try not to worry, there's a lot of good information on the internet on how to treat wry neck. I have attached four links below, one of them is a BYC forum, you can find firsthand information from people who have had chickens with wry neck. Hope this helps...
I would suggest taking her to an avian vet. In the mean time I can suggest the following remedies to ease the itch.
1) put diatomaceous earth in her dust bath
2) Give her an epsom salt bath, instructions are on this link http://www.gardenbetty.com/2013/10/the-spa-treatment-for-sick-chickens/

Help please! My entire flock has lice. One of my chickens died yesterday and I say that she was infested with lice. I examined my other chickens and they all have lice too. What do I do?
My chicken is three years old, and I see that she has very low metabolism these days. She looks well fed and has good plumage, but she sits around most of the day. She rarely gets up to scratch for food, and seems tired all the time. Is there anything that I can do for her so that she gets her...
I think your chicken has a good chance for living. The first thing you need to do is calm down. I know that it's hard for you to see your hen this way, but you need to calm down in order to help her. The first thing you should do is take her to an avian vet A.S.A.P. In the meantime you can try...
What type of feed are you fermenting? Is it commercial feed? Commercial feed doesn't sit right with chickens when fermented. I recommend fermenting something whole and natural like scratch grains. I have a jar of fermented stuff. I just put in some scratch grains, black oil sunflower seeds...
I advise you to use medicated chick starter. It includes a lot of medication that will protect your chicks from diseases. I have never heard of medicated feed for mature chickens.
The most gentle way to put a chicken down is to snap her neck or decapitate her I have a few links on what to do. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Some pics would be very helpful. The scabby patch must be a result of molting. Sometimes chickens develop those kinds of things. If this is caused by parasites then I recommend that you use Poultry Protector, Sevin Dust 5% (carbaryl powder) or Ivermectin. These are parasite fighting products...
You should feed them either Grower Feed, All-Flock or All-Purpose. I feed my chickens All-Flock when they were 10 weeks of age. Also, it usually helps tells you the feeding instructions on the backs of most commercial feed packets. I've posted a few links on sites that may help...
