When to put chicks out in the coop? Heat lamp or no heat lamp?

I agree with AngieDawn. At that age they probably don't need a heat lamp inside, so start weaning them off..maybe during the day for a couple of days and then all together. At that point they'll be fine outside and won't need a lamp. I have used a low wattage lamp in the coop - mostly to get...

When to put chicks out in the coop? Heat lamp or no heat lamp?

Hi! What are the temperatures (day & night) where you are? Also, what temperature are they used to in the brooder right now? :)

    Respiratory issue in Hen

So glad your hen is doing better - that's a good sign when they make a quick recovery! As far as cleaning, spraying down with a diluted bleach solution may be all you need. I'd suggest doing a quick google search on respiratory diseases and seeing what clean up is recommended. As someone else...

    Respiratory issue in Hen

I tend to agree with Fishkeeper on all that was said. Another thing is that it's very important for a sick bird to drink and adding strong things to their water may keep them from drinking it. VetRX is the only thing I would rub on their nostrils if they're wheezing and congested (follow the...

    Respiratory issue in Hen

That stuff is very, very contagious and can also be airborne. It went through here early this year. It can be a few things - some mild and some very serious. What you're doing is good and VetRx will be great when you get it. Keep the hen warm, dry, and clean and give her good nutritional...

    Bloody egg

I don't use DE. I use poultry dust from the farm store. If the mites are bad enough that it's causing crusting around the vent I want to get it taken care of immediately. :)

Internal laying vs. egg yolk peritonitis..warning, ******GRAPHIC PICS*****

The clumps of eggs and small yolks are normal for any hen that is currently laying. Tiny clumps of eggs are normal for any hen - laying or not. What is not normal is the yellow liquid and definitely eggs with shells. With our internal layers - or whatever similar issue they're having like...

    Selling Fertile Eggs?

They need to be clean. Store them pointy end down in a carton and at room temperature. They're good to sell locally for up to a week. Here's what I do: https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=r-OdjQZ8Xls

    Help I assisted

How long has it been? I'd suggest leaving the chick in the incubator until it gets it's legs under it. It could also be that it has some problems and that's why it couldn't hatch on its own. You'll have to wait and see.

    Selling Fertile Eggs?

Yes - I sell my eggs on CL! People buy them to incubate - mixed breeds are fine with people if the price is right. :)
