    What is this on a chicks vent?

    I was clearing some pasty butt off one of my rainbow rangers and found something that looks like a cold sore underneath. Any ideas on what it might be and/or how to get rid of it??

    Sorry, I guess I wasn't very clear, the first pic is the crowing suspected rooster. The second pic is the other hen I have of the same breed, simply for comparison.

    So I have a chicken that has started crowing and looks noticeably different than the other chicken of the same breed (silver laced wyandotte). I just want to get other opinions as well that this is in fact a rooster. Assuming it is so, what precautions do I need to take to make sure he doesn't...

    We're actually still working on it :/ We're trying to figure out the best way to get concrete in there with all the asphalt shingles being about 6-8" deep. We're hoping to have it finished (mostly) in the next couple weeks - but I promise to put up pictures when we get there!!

    The more I think about it the more I like the idea of concrete. I think I'm going to research that avenue more. Thanks you guys for all the input!!

    Yeah, the floor is definitely going to be the bear of the project. What is Sevin 5%? I've never heard of it.

    Thanks for the input! I have a large garage/workshop also, so I'm probably going to use that for storage so I can maximize chicken living space. I definitely want to cut out some more windows for ventilation. I'm most curious as to what people think I should do about the floor?
